The recycled polyester used in Nike products begins as recycled plastic bottles, which are cleaned, shredded into flakes and converted into pellets. From there, the pellets are spun into new, high-quality yarn used in our products, delivering peak performance with a lower impact on the environment. In addition to reducing waste, recycled polyester produces up to 30% lower carbon emissions than virgin polyester. Nike diverts an average of 1 billion plastic bottles annually from landfill and waterways.

About Nike

The Nike company makes its debut in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, by Phil Knight and his coach, Bill Bowerman. At the initial level, they partnered with the Japanese company Onitsuka Tiger, now known as ASICS, to import sneakers to the US. In 1971, Jeff Johnson proposed the name Nike, inspired by the Greek goddess of victory, and the company's first shoe, the "Nike Waffle Trainer," was introduced that same year. Nike quickly became world famous in the 1980s with the Air Jordan shoe line, created in collaboration with famous basketball player Michael Jordan. The "Just Do It" campaign in 1988 further boosted Nike's brand awareness, making it a leader in the sportswear industry. Today, Nike is known for the innovation, quality and style of its products, providing a wide range of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment.
