About Nike

The Nike company makes its debut in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, by Phil Knight and his coach, Bill Bowerman. At the initial level, they partnered with the Japanese company Onitsuka Tiger, now known as ASICS, to import sneakers to the US. In 1971, Jeff Johnson proposed the name Nike, inspired by the Greek goddess of victory, and the company's first shoe, the "Nike Waffle Trainer," was introduced that same year. Nike quickly became world famous in the 1980s with the Air Jordan shoe line, created in collaboration with famous basketball player Michael Jordan. The "Just Do It" campaign in 1988 further boosted Nike's brand awareness, making it a leader in the sportswear industry. Today, Nike is known for the innovation, quality and style of its products, providing a wide range of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment.
